As Chief Technical Officer of Thornberry Group LLC, Justin Thacker brings nearly two decades of experience in software development, technology infrastructure, business systems, and the practical application of technology to support business growth. Since joining the Thornberry organization in 2009, Justin has played a central role in building technology platforms, launching new businesses, modernizing operations, and developing the infrastructure that enables Thornberry Group’s companies to operate efficiently and scale. 

Justin began his career after graduating from Purdue University in 2006 with a degree in computer engineering. He spent his first three years working for a technology startup developing integrated voice response and phone-automation software, where he strengthened his programming skills and gained early experience working in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment. In 2009, he joined Nathan and Jenny Thornberry as they were launching Inspector Services Group (ISG), initially serving as the company’s programmer as it developed its own proprietary software capabilities. 

One of Justin’s first major projects was Recall Check, a platform designed to identify appliance recalls. The product became a significant success and contributed to the rapid growth of ISG and its related businesses. Justin’s involvement expanded as the companies grew, helping provide the technology capabilities and infrastructure necessary to support their evolution from emerging businesses into substantially larger operations. 

Justin subsequently became deeply involved in the development of PriorityLab, helping build the environmental testing laboratory from the ground up. In 2014, he traveled to Fort Lauderdale to work alongside Dr. John Shane in developing the laboratory’s initial laboratory information management system. He later played a similarly important role in the development of BREEZE, beginning with the software and cloud infrastructure required to manage the company’s first connected environmental monitoring device. The project established an important new capability for the organization: integrating physical products with cloud-based technology and data systems. 

Today, Justin’s focus extends beyond individual products or companies. One of his most significant accomplishments has been the development and continued refinement of a common enterprise management and technology platform that can be adapted across Thornberry Group’s businesses. The systems initially developed for BREEZE and PriorityLab have been replicated and customized for other portfolio companies, including BMH Manufacturing and FSL. This approach creates consistency in technology, data structures, reporting, and business processes while improving operational efficiency across the organization. 

Justin has also led significant technology modernization initiatives, including the development of BREEZE 4 and its in-house cloud gateway, as well as the rebuilding of Priority Lab’s laboratory information management system on a modern platform. His work reflects a broader philosophy: technology should not simply support a business after the fact; it should create the infrastructure that allows people and companies to perform at a higher level. 

His vision for Thornberry Group’s technology strategy is rooted in that principle. By creating scalable, repeatable systems and applying them across businesses with different products and markets, Justin seeks to give each company the operational capabilities it needs to grow while allowing its people to focus on their areas of expertise. He approaches complex challenges as opportunities to develop practical solutions, improve efficiency, and create measurable outcomes. 

Known for his detail-oriented, solution-driven approach, Justin specializes in breaking complex problems into manageable components and guiding them through implementation. His goal is ultimately straightforward: build technology and systems that make organizations more capable, more efficient, and better positioned for sustainable growth.
